Head in the Clouds

I've had the pleasure of reading both of Karen Witemeyer's novels this year. Head in the Clouds is an enjoyable Christian historical romance with a wonderful message about seeking the Lord and His Will. Adelaide Procter is a romantic and is looking forward to finding the love of her life and marrying him; however, when she follows after that dream without seeking God, it seemingly ends in disaster--that is, until she prays. She finds a job working for Gideon Westcott, as a governess for Isabelle, a young girl who does not speak. Trouble comes to the ranch, when Isabelle's uncle comes wanting to claim his family's money and Gideon and Adelaide work together to protect Isabelle and to help her speak.
Because I have such a heart for special needs children, I think I was hoping for a little more about Isabelle and her growth; however, this was a fun book with a strong Christian worldview.
The romance could have been a little more developed, but the plot also had adventure and suspense that kept the pages turning. I will watch for more by this new and upcoming author!

Thank you to Karen and Bethany House for my copy of the book.
