Calor
I was first introduced to JJ Fischer on Instagram. One day while scrolling my bookish feed, I came across a post that stopped me in my tracks. I had just been "Rick rolled" if you will! The post was "7 Rick Astley Author promises" by the one and only JJ Fischer. After reading her promises, I knew that I must one day read a book by her! Fast- forward to the tour announcement for Memoria (book 3 in her Nightengale Trilogy), I hurried to sign up, order first book, and order the second book. Calor introduces us to a fascinating found family crew of unique and memorable characters, including a young lady with a gift of "freezing or dulling memories," a noble who had tragically and brutally lost his wife and daughter and his two body guards, a friendly protective wolf, and a "cassanova" aptly named Cass, with a gift of his own. I absolutely love this ragtag crew traveling through the country side with a number of scary enemies on their trail. As I am writing this review, I am already halfway through Lumen (book 2), so I don't want to give any spoilers or mix up the two books. It is enough to say that upon finsihing the first book, I immediately started the second. I need to keep reading. I want to know what happens to these friends and how their story ends.
