The Roads We follow
This was a great book. While it was technically book 2 in the Fog Harbor series, I didn't need to read the first book to follow this one. However, now that I have read this one, I want to go back and read the first one. The Roads We Follow is a story about family, about secrets and misunderstanding, about working through the trials and finding hope and purpose, and about following God's plan for your life. Years ago, Luella Farrow and Lynn Davenport meet at church camp, find Jesus and each other and journey to Nashville to pursue their dream of being musicians. They are best friends and partners for years, but eventually part ways and don't reconnect until decades later. Luella and her daughters-Reagan, Hattie and Adele go on a cross country journey and Micah, Lynn's son is their driver. Each daughter holds secrets from the family. Reagan joins Micah in reading through Lynn's old journals from their mother's time together. These journals influence both of them in their current struggles, and both eventually find more than expected. There are many bumps along the journey often directly.
I loved the journey of the heart that each character experienced. Through making mistakes then making it right, relationships grow stronger. Looking closely at the past can direct our present decisions and future plans. This story is a beautiful depiction of those truths, and I highly recommend it!
