Someone to Blame: CFRB Tour

Someone to Blame
by C.S. Lakin
This month, CFRB presents Someone to Blame by C.S. Lakin .
About the Book:
A heartrending yet hope-inspiring story of a family that seeks to find solace in a small coastal community after the death of their two teenage sons, but runs headlong into trouble in a town eager to find someone to blame for the rash of crimes following a young drifter’s wake.

About the Author:
Susanne Lakin grew up collating television scripts for her mother, a screenwriter, story editor, and producer for television. As an adult, Susanne assisted in developing series for television, and while raising two daughters and running a bed and breakfast inn in northern California, wrote her first three novels and a cookbook. She currently works as a freelance copy editor and writing mentor, specializing in helping authors prepare their books for publication. If she didn't spend all her time writing and copyediting, she would be sixty feet underwater, taking photographs, or backpacking in the Trinty Alps with her dog, Sweetie. She confesses to a serious chocolate addiction, which she shares with her husband of twenty-six years, Lee Miller. Together they also share a deep love for God and gratitude for their savior, Jesus Christ.

My Thoughts:
I had never even heard of C.S. Lakin before this blog tour, but the book sounded good so I thought I'd try it. I am so glad I did; it was a good read. C.S. Lakin created wonderful three-dimensional characters, no matter how major or minor their role was. As in real life, each character in the book is dealing with their own trials, and
unfortunately
many are causing more hurt in the process. Through these trials, some turn to the Lord, while others turn to violence. Some run away, and others hide behind a charade that things are okay. This was a real life drama about grief and loss, but there was a bit of a mystery as well. I kept changing my mind as to what was really happening. The ending was full of a hope that only God can give. I loved the theme of redemption and hope, second chances and the power of love and forgiveness. C.S. Lakin is an author to check out!

Great review Megan. Thank you for your help and your insights. I mentioned to Susanne that her style threw me, but just picked up a copy of One Smooth Stone, by Marcia Lee Laycock, that I'd read for an earlier tour. I realized that their styles are similar. I guess I just wasn't in the mood for this style at this time, although I did appreciate the quality of the story and found it to be very powerful.
