This was a quick read and a pretty good one. I will admit there was some words used that I have never heard or read in my life, but I am assuming that is because it is a British novel. I work with a number of children who have a trauma background, and I often wonder how their lives will be as they become adults. I think this gives an accurate portrayal of the impact of trauma, while also demonstrating the power of real people who are kind and caring and take care of those around them.
Written in an honest and unique voice of Eleanor Oliphant, this book felt authentic. I enjoyed the quirky observations that she made throughout her entry into the social world. Her exploration through her past was painful and healing. I was also somewhat surprised at one of the ending revelations. This was heartfelt and hope-filled fiction, one worth reading.
