Introduction

I have worked in book sales for 8 years. When I began, I read a little of everything, but in the past few years I have read mostly all Christian fiction. I find that it often opens my heart to new aspects of the Bible and Christ-like living. I hope to share the love of inspiring fiction with other people. I read all genres of Christian fiction including fantasy, chick-lit, romance, suspense, mystery, etc. I love to suggest new books to people and encourage them to try new things. Authors that I follow include Randy Alcorn, Tamera Alexander, Lynn Austin, Terri Blackstock, Colleen Coble, Brandilyn Collins, Ted Dekker, Deanna Gist, Kristin Heitzmann, Angela Hunt, Karen Kingsbury, Siri Mitchell, Nancy Moser, Linda Nichols, Christa Parrish, Frank Peretti, Allison Pittman, Francine Rivers, Lisa Samson, and Travis Thrasher. I have two bookshelves full of books yet to read, with many other authors that I am excited to try. My absolute favorite is Francine Rivers' Mark of the Lion trilogy. Beth Moore is my favorite non-fiction author. I also like Frances Roberts, Oswald Chambers, C.S. Lewis, Max Lucado, Henry Blackaby, Sheila Walsh, Joni Erickson Tada, and Donna Partow. Of course, I can't forget the Bible. God's Word is the ultimate source of wisdom and inspiration. I am currently rereading the book of 1 Samuel, choosing this after finishing Michal by Jill Eileen Smith. I am also reading Come Away, My Beloved by Frances Roberts, Heaven by Randy Alcorn, and June Bug by Chris Fabry. June Bug is described as a modern retelling of Les Miserables, and I am enjoying it. Fabry's writing is crisp and fresh. I will write a full review when I have finished it! That's all for now. I plan to write brief reviews of some of the books I have read in the past and more thorough reviews of my current reading lists! I would love to see comments and reviews from all interested. Thanks

Megan,

I'm so glad you started this blog! Just in the last couple years have I discovered Christian fiction, and what a blessing it's been! I'm excited to see what your favorites are and give them a try...so far I've read some Francine Rivers (but not the Mark of the Lion, so I will have to try that!), Randy Alcorn (love him and need to read more!), and Jan Karon.

One hint as a fellow blogger...don't get too discouraged from the lack of comments. A lot of people read but don't comment...at least that's been my experience.

Anyway, keep up the good work...I'm looking forward to following along!

This looks like a great site! I run the Christian book club for my church and am always needing great book ideas.
We just finished Deadline by Randy Alcorn (mixed reviews) and Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom (rave reviews-new must read)
Our book picks for the next few months are:
According to Their Deeds by Paul Robertson; Watch Over Me by Christa Parrish; Promise to Believe in by Traci Peterson; and Sixteen Brides (new release in April 2010) by our favorite local author Stephanie Whitson.
Any comments or suggestions for future book club picks? We did the Mark of the Lion series several years ago and loved it.
Thank you so much. I've never been in a book club but have always wanted to do one. Your books look good too! I've read some by a lot of those authors, and I actually have Watch Over Me on my shelf for this month! As far as any other suggestions go, do you have any specific goals or guidelines for picking the books. I just started Veiled Freedom by J.M. Windle today, and even though I'm only 40 pages into it, it seems like there would be many discussion points to it. Also, Blink by Ted Dekker (renamed Blink of an Eye) would probably be an interesting and fun book to discuss. I have never read Stephanie Whitson, but I just checked out her website. Have you ever contacted her to join your Book Club discussion? It says on her website that she will do so via speakerphone which is very exciting! Other book clubs out there should check that out too!

I will look at Veiled Freedom as a possibility. Thanks for the suggestion.
We have had Stephanie Whitson come to book club several times. She is a very fun lady and fits in with our craziness. I would whole heartedly recommend that other book clubs contact her or other authors. It adds another dimension to the book by understanding the authors thought processes.
Keep the suggestions coming! We try to avoid what we call "formula" books, where the characters may be different but it is the same old story...we like unusual story lines with lots of discussion points.

Your blog looks great.

Our company has been representing authors for the past twenty years.
We would love to add you to our database to receive press releases from them regarding religious books for review.

Thank you in advance,
